P1: Project Appreciation
Before beginning to consider the advice contained within this Guide, users will need to consider the actual scope and scale of the ‘project’ that is being considered, and the actual point in the process that they are at. In some instances, a developer or Local Authority may be in the first stages of thinking about what to do with a site, for others an outline planning application may be in the process of being prepared, while elsewhere an application may have been submitted.
The project initiation stage therefore covers the following key elements:
- Defining a ‘project’, in particular in terms of its potential scope and scale; and
- Understanding where it has come from, who has been driving it forward to date and whether it is grounded by any specific policy context.
This project appreciation stage aims to give clarity to the scope, scale and context of any project that may be subject to this Guide process.
